This goes for lots of mystery writers, but especially for Conan Doyle for some reason. I love Sherlock Holmes...and I love his writing, but I can't re-read entire books or stories of Sherlock Holmes because there is always a point at which I remember how the mystery was solved, and .....so maybe it is more accurate to say a book that I have only been able to read all the way through only once.....

Date: 2010-06-10 01:11 pm (UTC)Also, Vanity Fair, although I have seen various mini series for it which I didn't mind. Actually, it wasn't the story so much as the book itself. Twas a paperback that you really needed to wreck to see the end of the lines and as I don't like to do that, I used to have a fight with the damned book just to keep it open.
There's probably more but I can't think of them at this hour.
Ah the joys of English literature!
